Description:
Soda lime, also known as sodium lime, white or beige powder, porous, is calcium oxide (CaO, about 75%), water (H2O, about 20%), sodium hydroxide (NaOH, about 3%), and hydroxide Potassium (KOH, about 1%).

Usage:
1. Used as analytical reagent and carbon dioxide absorbent
2. As a desiccant and carbon dioxide absorbent
Mainly as a desiccant (in which the role of calcium oxide to dry), can be used to dry neutral gases such as oxygen, can also be used for drying alkaline gas ammonia. At the same time can also be used to absorb acid gases, such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide. If only sodium hydroxide is present, the desiccant can not be used at higher temperatures because sodium hydroxide can react with the most commonly used glass instruments in the laboratory (mainly silica) to corrode the instrument.
